Governor John Kitzhaber to Address Marion Polk County Medical Society May 15

The Medical Society of Marion and Polk County will feature former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, MD as keynote speaker for its spring member dinner on May 15th. The event is at The Reed Ballroom in Salem starting at 6:00 PM. Governor Kitzhaber’s speech is titled, Avoiding the Falls: Succeeding or Failing Together. The event a social hour with sponsor and nonprofit organization booths followed by the presentation of the Medical Society's President's Awards for 2026. The event is designed for medical providers in Marion and Polk counties. Register at mpmedsociety.org.

Medical Society Partners with Marion Polk Food Share

The Marion Polk Medical Society and Marion Polk Food Share are nonprofits with a common purpose: closing the gap on food insecurity and providing nutritious food to those in need. Part of the mission of the Food Share is their Youth Farm. The farm, run largely by high school aged kids, raises crops and gives the food away. Food boxes are specifically tailored to the nutrition needs of the recipient. This is "food as medicine" and the Medical Society supports this excellent program!

The Medical Society is partnering with the Food Share to raise funds to support the youth farm in 2026. The goal is to raise $20,000.
