THIRD THURSDAY | 12PM - 1PM
September 16th Speaker: Pritham Raj, MD, FACP, Active Recovery TMS - Caring for A Pandemic-Sized Depression Crisis in Oregon
DESCRIPTION:
COVID has exacerbated mental health issues in patients and providers alike. A recent Kaiser Family Foundation study found that 4 in 10 U.S. adults are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. This 4X increase has created yet another crisis - one where depression and other mental illnesses become the face of a silent pandemic.
In this webinar, Y. Pritham Raj, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Active Recovery TMS, will discuss the current state of medical health in America, how we've found ourselves in the middle of a new pandemic and what we can do to help colleagues and patients begin to find relief from depression. Starting with the history of the use of antidepressant therapy, Dr. Raj will share current screening guidelines for depression, and exciting developments in brain stimulation therapies including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), and esketamine. Suicidal ideation intervention and strategies for dealing with difficult patients will also be covered.
